In case it has been a while since the last time you met up with your old sire and kidnapped a detective, here’s a quick episode recap: Angel’s implied metaphor for being a recovering alcoholic rears its ugly head as haunting dreams lead him to admit openly, for the first time in either series, that he still yearns for a drink. Meanwhile, Angel’s former protege, played by Jeremy Renner, leaves a trail of victims for the cops to follow. Kate finally learns the truth about Angel’s true nature and dusts her first vampire in the series. And as Cordelia and Angel reflect on all these events, she steps into the role of Angel’s sponsor in a scene that is equal parts sweet and funny.
